Wednesday 11th August 2021

Hartlepool Art Gallery, Christ Church, Church Square, Hartlepool, 7.00pm to 9.00pm (doors open 6.40pm).

Please note: Covid measures are still not entirely lifted, so the Gallery has asked that we restrict numbers to 24 attendees. Please confirm beforehand with Liz Littlefair if you are attending.

We are very pleased to welcome Bruce Mulcahy, who has recently joined our club and will demonstrate painting with gouache.

Bruce was born in Dewsbury and became interested in painting at an early age. He gained an honours degree in Fine Art at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1978 – receiving his first commission later that year – and he began painting full-time shortly afterwards. Inspired by painters who have worked outdoors from the Impressionists onwards, all Bruce’s work is produced en plein air. The practical difficulties of working outdoors in all seasons are put to one side as the important thing for him is to react directly to the landscape and the particular colours, textures and light of the moment.

Bruce has exhibited in numerous galleries across the country and his paintings are held in collections throughout the UK and in fourteen other countries to date, including New Zealand, USA, Canada and Japan.

Bruce is a member of several art societies and in 2007 was elected a full member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists.

Visitors are welcome at £5.00 per head.
