We are delighted to welcome back the well-known artist & demonstrator, Stephen Coates, to our Club meeting night.

Stephen from Sheffield was known to have artistic skills at school but his teachers advised him to follow another career path. After 16 years in the music industry & a further 16 years running his own sandwich business, he decided to take up painting again & was delighted to find that he could still do it. He framed some of his work and exhibited it in his sandwich shop. His customers showed interest & he began to sell his work and even gave advice on painting techniques. 

In April 2011 he decided on a complete career change & turned professional artist, running watercolour courses as well as continuing to paint & exhibit his work. This has continued and he now demonstrates for Winsor & Newton, has had 3 books published by Search Press and has developed his own brushes with Pro-arte. He has had articles published in Leisure Painter and demonstrates at live art shows & at art clubs and societies throughout the country. 

He will be demonstrating how to paint realistic reflections in watercolour, though the skills he will be showing us can be used in any media.
