This month, Joe Hush returns to the Art Club to give a landscape demonstration entitled ‘The Proposal’. A popular artist with a very distinctive style, he was born and raised in Northumberland, where the beautiful countryside has been an inspiration for his painting. Self-taught, he has painted most of his life for pleasure but once he made the decision to go professional he initially undertook commissions of country homes and farms whilst out sketching. This led to several Art Exhibitions in Chester-le-Street, Durham and Alnwick. His work is now distributed throughout the UK. He is primarily inspired by scenes in Northumberland, The Lake District and Scotland, working in acrylic, oils and watercolours, He says that he tries to capture and convey his feelings of a particular subject and still remains mesmerised seeing a scene materialise onto paper or canvas.
The demonstration is at the Art Gallery in Church Square from 7.00 to 9.00 pm. £2 for Art Club members, £5 for guests. Doors open at 6.40pm
