11th December 2019

This month we welcome Sarah Hill as our demonstrator to show painting landscapes in watercolour.

Sarah is from Durham City and for most of her life she was a medical research scientist but took a career break to have three children.

She started to experiment with watercolour a few years ago when almost completely incapacitated with an asthmatic condition. Her friend Jenny Ulyatt was already an established watercolour artist and she started to teach Sarah when she realised what a therapy it was and Sarah never looked back.

Painting original watercolour paintings in various sizes, Sarah really appreciates the beauty in the everyday, her children, the light in the trees, reflections in water and the absolute glory of all the seasons. Sarah is particularly inspired by the amazing countryside in The North of England.

Sarah exhibits her work at local exhibitions, galleries and art shows, selling original paintings as well as giclee prints and cards of her images.

She runs friendly, informal watercolour workshops at the amazing Ushaw and at Crook Hall in Durham City. Sarah continues to work with Jenny a great deal and they share a studio place in Durham City Centre and together teach watercolour workshops to schools across the North East and Manchester.

Visitors are welcome at a charge of £5. As this is the Christmas meeting wine, soft drinks and mince pies will be provided, so come along and enjoy our festive atmosphere and maybe don a Christmas jumper in the spirit of things.
