Tuesday 8th September 2020

This months meeting is a change of day and change of venue. Due to the Government guidelines even though the Art Gallery is (due to) open they are unable to offer our usual meeting place. Therefore place note this is Tuesday 8th September at the Golden Lion.

There is currently a restriction on numbers available to attend the evening demonstration to allow socially distant measures and safety to be maintained. Therefore can you please register your interest to attend with Liz via our contact page, or e-mail/phone number if you have them already.

It will be first come first served on the attendance list so make sure you contact to reserve your place. If guide lines are eased further to allow additional numbers we will of course increase the attendance capacity. Face coverings are mandatory.

Charles Evans is joining us to demonstrate his amazing skills in Watercolour.

Charlie was born in Yorkshire where he grew up as a country lad. During an early career in catering, he discovered a love of painting and was commissioned by the National Coal Board to paint pictures for their boardrooms.

As soon as he could, Charlie went to Lincoln Art College but found it hard to make a living. A career in the RAF meant that he could develop his catering expertise while representing his regiment in 3-day eventing and motorcycle racing.  Leaving the RAF and relocating to Northumberland gave Charlie the impetus to develop a career in art, painting and teaching.

Appearing regularly for Tyne Tees TV regional programmes, painting out on location, gave him plenty of practice in working under all conditions. Today, Charlie still lives in Northumberland and travels the country, and abroad, taking his no-nonsense approach to painting to hundreds of amateur artists.

Visitors are welcome at £5 entrance fee.

The Golden Lion will provide tea and coffee refreshments on the night at a £1 per cup charge.
